The peptide
GHK-Cu is glycyl-L-histidyl-L-lysine bound to a copper ion. Discovered in 1973 by Loren Pickart as a serum factor that improved liver-tissue function in older rodents. Subsequently shown to stimulate dermal fibroblasts, upregulate collagen and elastin synthesis, and modulate wound healing.
Skin regeneration applications
Topical GHK-Cu (typically 0.05%–0.2% in serums or creams) reduces visible signs of photoaging, improves skin elasticity, and reduces fine line depth in controlled studies. Effective formulations require the copper to remain bound (some products separate; check formulation).
Hair regrowth applications
See GHK-Cu microneedle delivery in androgenetic alopecia. The peptide stimulates dermal papilla and prolongs anagen phase. Microneedle delivery dramatically improves transdermal penetration over topical-only.
Delivery routes
- Topical 0.1%–0.2% — daily for skin; daily with microneedling for hair
- Compounded subcutaneous — 1–2 mg 2× weekly, used in functional medicine
NexLife use
