BPC-157 Complete Guide — Mechanism, Dosing, and Recovery Stacks

BPC-157 is the most-studied peptide in the recovery category. Strong preclinical evidence for tendon, ligament, and gastrointestinal repair. Commonly stacked with TB-500 for soft-tissue recovery. NexLife's peptide therapy program ($119/mo) covers BPC-157 under physician oversight.

Origin and mechanism

BPC-157 is a synthetic pentadecapeptide derived from a portion of gastric juice protein. The mechanism involves promoting angiogenesis (new blood vessel formation), upregulating growth hormone receptor expression in tendon fibroblasts, and modulating nitric oxide synthesis. The peptide's name stands for 'Body Protection Compound-157.'

Evidence

Strong preclinical (rodent) evidence for tendon, ligament, gastrointestinal lining, and soft-tissue repair. Published human trial data is limited; most clinical use is off-label by sports medicine and functional medicine clinicians.

Dosing and routes

Most common compounded protocol: 250–500 mcg subcutaneous, twice daily, for 4–8 week cycles. Oral capsules (typically 500 mcg–1 mg per dose) are available but bioavailability is lower than injectable. Local injection (intra-articular or peri-tendon) may produce stronger localized effects.

Recovery stacking — BPC-157 + TB-500

The most common recovery stack pairs BPC-157 with TB-500 (Thymosin Beta-4). The combination is used for major soft-tissue injuries, post-surgical recovery, and refractory tendinopathies. See TB-500 guide.

Safety profile

Preclinical safety data is favorable across multiple species. Human safety data is limited. Common patient-reported side effects: injection-site irritation; occasional nausea. Compounded peptides are not FDA-approved.

NexLife peptide therapy program

NexLife's peptide therapy program at $119/mo covers BPC-157 under physician oversight by Medical Director Adam Kennah, M.D.. Protocols are individualized; dosing and cycle length are physician-determined.
